Calendar Girls Charity Cheque
On the evening of Tuesday 1st July 2013, the press and local dignitaries including the Mayor of Secondigny and his wife and two of his ‘adjoints’ attended a gathering of Reaction(aries) to celebrate the achievement of raising €10,000 in favour of two cancer related charities*, one in France, one in the UK. The evening was arranged so that a symbolic cheque could be handed over. The Mayor graciously stepped in to accept on behalf of the two charities* who were unfortunately unable to have someone attend.

A Moment To Share Something Special !
“This came from THE ORIGINAL REAL-LIFE “Annie” as a ‘thank-you’ and ‘appreciation’ of our own 2013/2014 Calendar signed by all our ‘GIRLS’!
We are indebted to Bob & Josie Wilkinson, who were at our first and last night performances of ‘Calendar Girls’. They went on a trip to the UK and sought out their friend ANGELA BAKER in Yorkshire to give her our signed calendar.
Angela was portrayed in the film as ‘Annie’ played by Julie Walters and in our play by Maureen Murdoch, so it was a privilege for Maureen and Tony Murdoch, our director, to be presented by Bob & Josie with the signed 2013 Calendar from the ‘Original Girls’ and hear how Angela had thoroughly appreciated the gift of ours, studying every page and commenting on its beauty and quality and how it mirrored the style of that famous first Alternative W.I. Calendar of 1999, created after the loss to Leukaemia of Angela’s husband John.
Angela’s 2013 calendar is to be their final calendar, so it is very special for Reaction Theatre to have been given this from one of the ‘Original Calendar Girls’ whose phenomenon has raised several million pounds on behalf of Leukaemia Research.”
REACTION THEATRE ALTERNATIVE ‘CALENDAR GIRLS’ CALENDAR
As you are aware during 2013 Reaction Theatre produced our own version of the Calendar Girls calendar. Our target was to raise 10,000 euros which will be shared between cancer research organisations in both France and the United Kingdom.
As we are well into 2014 sales are now coming to an end and we have not quite reached our target, so it has been agreed to continue just a little longer by collecting additional voluntary donations for the programmes at our production of ‘Entertaining Angels’ in April.
We are confident with your continued support we will reach our target.
